question:
If you have, then you are like myself and so many others, for there are both lots of books and lots of people in this world and plenty of time for both books and people to do plenty of interacting with each other!
I'm someone whose had varying degrees of success learning music from books in my own experience. Overall I think books are great. I have nothing against books.
all books have judge-able covers
(*except for those choose your own adventure novels...)
Just about every bound tome you could conceivably encounter was recorded with the intent of being processed in strict order from beginning to end.
Books are optimal for telling evolving stories or fleshing out the process of coming to understand a complex concept or relationship.
A one way journey through a book serves as analog to our one way journey through this mystery we call life.
Articles and videos that demonstrate and explain different uses for the set!
But...
and how does that help you learn how to improvise?
Typically, when we're done working with a book on music, we're done with that book because we've integrated the author's point and can move on.
Adapting to the predictable makes us better only at the predictable...
That's why I made gnöd-möd®!
and I've been very serious about getting good at music for almost three decades
I made gnöd-möd® because I needed it for myself.
I made gnöd-möd® because I needed it for my students.
As a teacher, I wanted educational material that could present the basics of understanding and practicing music while also introducing the wild and unpredictable side of real time improvisational decision making.
As a practitioner, I wanted a tool that would keep me surprised and would evolve with my needs along my own growth and continual journey.
SO!
We both know the answer...

you can get started with your own deck over at the 'how to gnöd-möd™'
Want to know more?
it involves cards and dice...
There are two types of cards in the deck. These are:
gnöd cards (but also referred to as blob cards) möd cards.möd cards suggest which concepts should be applied to specific gnöd cards or blob cards (gnöd cards = blob cards, remember).
gnöd cards (also known as blob cards) represent all the ways that one can choose subsets of 2, 3 and 4 notes from a 7 note scale, with pictographic representation of how to play the chosen note set in different order permutations. (Inversion family subsets are all color coded!)
There are three types of dice;
d6d11d2/3/4 multi-die that is 12-sided.The dice help one arrive at specific decisions presented by the cards about how to proceed in music for the at least the moment.
complete sets are available for sale from me through my reverb shop.
